Ουτως ημας
λογιζεσθω ανθρωπος ως υπηρετας χριστου και οικονομους μυστηριων θεου
* So let a man reckon us as servants of Christ and managers of
the mysteries of God.
Ωδε λοιπον ζητειται εν τοις οικονομοις ινα
πιστος τις ευρεθη
* Moreover as to the rest, it is required in managers that someone
be found faithful.
Εμοι
δε εις ελαχιστον εστιν ινα υφ υμων ανακριθω η υπο ανθρωπινης ημερας αλλ ουδε εμαυτον ανακρινω

To
me it is the smallest matter that I should be examined by you or by any humanly
day. But neither do I judge myself.
Ουδεν
γαρ εμαυτω συνοιδα αλλ ουκ εν τουτω δεδικαιωμαι ο δε ανακρινων με κυριος εστιν

I am conscious of nothing in myself, but I have not been justified by this. The
one who judges me is the Lord.
Paul refers to Deut 17:9:
“Go to the Levitical priests and to the
judge who is in office at that time. Inquire of them and they will give you the
verdict.”
Ωστε
μη προ καιρου τι κρινετε εως αν ελθη ο κυριος ος και φωτισει τα κρυπτα του
σκοτους και φανερωσει τας βουλας των καρδιων και τοτε ο επαινος γενησεται
εκαστω απο του θεου

Thus do not judge anything before time, until the Lord might have come, who
will bring to light the things hidden in darkness and will make manifest the motives
of the heart. Then praise will be to each from God.
Paul refers to Deut 17:12: “Anyone who shows contempt for the judge or
for the priest who stands ministering there to the LORD your God is to be put
to death. You must purge the evil from Israel.”
Ταυτα δε αδελφοι μετεσχηματισα εις
εμαυτον και απολλων δι υμας ινα εν ημιν μαθητε το μη υπερ α γεγραπται ινα μη
εις υπερ του ενος φυσιουσθε κατα του ετερου
These
things, brothers, I
have transferred to myself and Apollos on account of you, in order that you might
learn from us not above what has been written, in order that not one of you may
be puffed up against another.

διακρινει τι δε εχεις ο ουκ ελαβες ει δε και ελαβες τι καυχασαι ως μη λαβων
* Who makes
you different? What do you have which you did not receive? If you received it,
why do you boast as if you had not received it?

Paul refers to a matter that the Corinthian community has addressed to him.
Ηδη
κεκορεσμενοι εστε ηδη επλουτησατε χωρις ημων εβασιλευσατε και οφελον γε
εβασιλευσατε ινα και ημεις υμιν

Already
you are satiated. Already you were enriched. You reigned apart from us. And I
wish you did reign, in order that we might reign with you!
Δοκω γαρ ο
θεος ημας τους αποστολους εσχατους απεδειξεν ως επιθανατιους οτι θεατρον
εγενηθημεν τω κοσμω και αγγελοις και ανθρωποις
I think that
God has set forth us last apostles, as men sentenced to death, because we became
a spectacle to the world, to messengers, and to men

εργαζομενοι ταις ιδιαις χερσιν λοιδορουμενοι ευλογουμεν διωκομενοι ανεχομεθα
* We labor,
working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;
δθσφημουμενοι
παρακαλουμεν ως περικαθαρματα του κοσμου εγενηθημεν παντων περιψημα εως αρτι
* When slandered,
we entreat. We are become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things
until now.
Ουκ εωτρεπων
υμας γραφω ταθτα αλλὠς τεκνα μου αγαπητα νουθετων
* I do not
write these things to shame you, but to warn you as my beloved children.

* For though you should
have ten thousand tutors in Christ, you do not have many fathers. in Christ

Paul is gay. How do we know? As a Pharisee, Paul undoubtedly knew that the obligation to create progeny was laid on men, not on women. The prohibition against male interaction is not a matter of sexuality, but a matter of ownership of the progeny (a topic Paul addresses later on). If a male produces progeny with another male, one of the two would have to surrender ownership. The other could be accused of stealing the progeny from the one who surrendered it. Paul, in "begetting children" by creating communities of Greco-Romans who he was coaching in Judean praxis, found a way around the obligation to create offspring. This meant he did not have to interact with women

υμας μιμται μου γινεσθε
* I urge you, therefore,
become imitators of me.
Δια τουτο

account of this
I sent Timothy to you, who is my child, beloved and faithful in the Lord, who
will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every gathering.

ερχομενου δε μου προς υμας εφυσιωθησαν τινες
* As to my not coming to you now, some were
puffed up.
Ελευσομαι δε
παχεως προς υμας εαν ο κυριος θεληση γνωσομαι ου τον λογον των πεφυσιωμενων
αλλα την δυναμιν
* But I will come
to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know out not the word of those
who are puffed-up people, but their power.
Ου γαρ εν λογω
η βασιλεια του θεου αλλ εν δυναμει
* The kingdom of
God is not in word but in power.
Τι θελετε εν
πρβδω ελθω προς υμας η εν αγαπη πνευματι τε παρυτητος
What do you want? Shall I come before
you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?
